What the clip is for

Module frames and mounting rails are anodised, and anodising is an insulator. Bolting a frame to a rail holds it in place and does not bond it electrically. The clip bites through the coating at the clamping point so the two become one conductor.

That is a real job and this is the part that does it.

What it is not

A kit. The label on this shelf promises a conductor cross-section, a rod length and a coupling. None of the three is here, because none of the three is in the box — four clips, pre-assembled, and nothing else.

The material

Aluminium with smooth edges, described as resisting corrosion, rust, wear and ultraviolet. The same metal as the rail and the frame, which avoids a dissimilar-metal joint outdoors.

The claim to check

Suitable for lightning protection and earthing applications on roofs, ground mounts, carports and metal supports. Lightning protection is governed by standards, and the listing cites none — what a clip is suitable for is a question for those rules rather than for the listing.

German Amazon store quoted about 8 € when this page was compiled.

British Amazon store carries it too, priced in its own currency, which the euro range above deliberately omits.

Italian and Spanish Amazon stores wanted more than 1.6× what the cheapest country wanted. A margin that wide usually means stock shipped in from elsewhere rather than a seller on the ground, so those quotes stay out of the range above.

American and French Amazon catalogues carry an entry for it, with nobody selling.
