An earthing kit is a conductor, a set of clamps and often a rod, sold for solar frames, generator bodies and equipment cabinets. What it must achieve — and whether it is required at all — comes from the maker’s instructions and from the local electrical rules, which differ by country and by installation type; this page compares hardware and does not decide compliance. The hardware questions are concrete. Conductor cross-section is published in square millimetres and is usually specified by those same rules rather than chosen. Clamp types have to suit what they grip: a frame clamp with a piercing tooth for an anodised aluminium rail, a rod clamp, a lug for a busbar. Materials decide the life of the joint outdoors and, just as importantly, whether two dissimilar metals are put in contact — copper directly on aluminium corrodes at the joint, which is why bimetallic washers exist.
