What arrives

Two ten-metre lengths, one red and one black, with connectors fitted at both ends of each. Nothing to strip, nothing to crimp, nothing to get wrong.

The colour

A helpful convention rather than a rule. Solar cable is conventionally black for both poles and the polarity lives in the connector housings, which are keyed so they cannot mate wrongly. Red and black makes a run easier to trace; it does not replace the keying.

The conductor

Tinned copper. Moisture reaches the strands of an outdoor cable eventually, and tinning is what stops the corrosion creeping in from the cut end.
