A portable charger built around the socket it plugs into.
Two kinds of residual current
Type A at 30 mA. DC at 6 mA. Both named, with a millisecond response.
That second figure is the one that matters. An electric vehicle can leak a small direct current, and DC leakage blinds an ordinary Type A device in the consumer unit — it simply stops protecting. A cable carrying its own 6 mA DC detection covers the gap the house cannot.
Two temperature sensors
One in the plug, one in the control unit. If either gets hot, the cable acts.
Charging from a household socket for eight hours is the commonest way a home charging setup fails: old wiring, a worn Schuko contact, nobody watching. A sensor in the plug is what stands between that and something worse.
Adjustable current
6 A to 16 A. Turn it down when the oven and the dishwasher are already running, turn it up overnight. On a house with wiring of uncertain age that is a real protection and not a convenience.
The app
Scheduling for off-peak tariffs, with over-the-air updates. Useful, and a dependency — an app that stops being maintained takes the scheduling with it.
The ratings
IP66 on the control unit, IP55 on the Type 2 plug. DEKRA certified. A sunlight-readable LCD.
And the speed
3.7 kW, single phase. Schuko charging is slow by design. What this cable buys is charging anywhere there is a socket, safely — not charging quickly.
