Vehicle sockets and EV charging cable

Two products at very different voltages, both about connecting something to a vehicle.

The socket

Ring terminals, so it goes straight under the battery terminal nut. No crimping, no splicing into a circuit that may already be carrying more than you think.

On a motorcycle with no spare fused circuit, that is the correct connection rather than the convenient one. An integrated fuse comes with it.

What the socket listing does not say

Any current rating. That is the figure a socket is chosen by — it decides whether a compressor or only a phone charger can be plugged in — and none appears.

The charging cable

Three-phase, 16 A, up to 11 kW, cited to IEC 62196-2, in 5, 10 or 15 metres.

Fifteen metres is available, which no other cable in that family offers, and it is bought for the badly laid-out public bay rather than the drive at home.

The detail that lasts

The protective caps are attached to the cable rather than supplied loose. A cap tethered to the plug is still there after a winter of garage floors and road salt.
