Integrated DC 6 mA residual current detection, with an external Type A breaker required. That is a complete statement about protection: what the charger does, and what must exist upstream for the combination to work.

An electric vehicle can produce a DC fault current that blinds a standard Type A device. A charger that detects it at 6 mA is why a Type A remains acceptable rather than a costlier Type B. Eight chargers on this shelf and one explains this.

Why does 6 mA DC detection matter?

Because an electric vehicle can produce a direct-current fault that a standard Type A residual current device cannot detect, and which can blind it. A charger with integrated 6 mA DC detection handles that, which is why it is permitted alongside a Type A rather than requiring a more expensive Type B.

Does that mean no other protection is needed?

No. The first bullet says an external Type A breaker is required alongside it. What a specific installation needs is set by the national wiring rules and by whoever is qualified to assess it, and this page reports the maker’s statement rather than extending it.
