SAE

A two-pin polarised connector that pulls apart. The ring-terminal cable bolts to the battery once and stays there; the panel plugs into it and unplugs without anyone going near a terminal again.

For a caravan or a boat where the panel comes off every time the vehicle moves, that is the part of the design that gets used most, and it means no spanner and no chance of a wrong connection.

Both cables

SAE to crocodile clips, for clipping on. SAE to ring terminals, for a permanent battery connection. Supplied together, so either mode works out of the box.

Fifty watts

Double the smallest charger in this family. That is charging rather than maintenance — enough to recover a drained leisure battery over a few days rather than merely stopping it going flat.

The controller
