Micro-inverters and AC-coupled storage

The inverter at the panel, and the battery behind it.

What a micro-inverter does

Converts one or two panels’ direct current into mains alternating current at the panel itself. A shaded module drops only its own output instead of dragging a string down, and the high-voltage DC run disappears entirely.

That second point is why plug-in balcony solar exists at all.

AC-coupled storage

The battery here connects on the alternating-current side rather than between panel and inverter. That means it can be added to an installation that already exists, without touching the solar wiring — and it can also charge from the grid, which a DC-coupled battery generally cannot.

What the pages check

For the inverter: input window per channel, output ceiling, and the grid standard it conforms to.

For the battery: usable capacity as against nominal, and whether the charge rate is published alongside it.

A note on names

Elsewhere in this catalogue, a listing sold under a different seller name carries this maker’s hardware. The page names the manufacturer, because that is what the buyer is actually getting.
