Exakt

AGM and lithium, side by side

The same supplier offering both chemistries makes the comparison unusually direct.

What actually separates them

Weight, for the same usable energy — lithium is dramatically lighter.

Usable depth. An AGM battery taken below half its rating regularly will not last; a LiFePO4 battery goes far deeper as a matter of routine.

Cycle life, which differs by a large multiple.

And cold. Lithium must not be charged below freezing without a heater, and AGM can be.

Which to buy

Depends on the vehicle. A motorhome that is used in winter and parked cold has a real argument for AGM; one that carries weight badly and cycles daily has a stronger one for lithium.

What these two pages state

Capacity and chemistry, reliably. Cycle life and depth of discharge, variably — and the individual pages mark which.

The figure that settles most arguments

Cost per usable kilowatt-hour over the expected cycle life, which neither listing computes and both give the ingredients for.
